Biography
With his Carnegie Hall Debut performance at the early age of 19, David Schofield is a name we've surely not heard the last of Oxford Times 2002.
Known for his fresh and colourful interpretations of the piano repertoire David continues his studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He maintains a busy performance schedule in both the United States and the United Kingdom .

David began playing the piano in his hometown of Manchester at the age of 5. In 2006 he finished his 9th year at Chetham's School of Music where he studied with Simon Bottomley.

David has had many successes as a pianist: Aged 12 David was introduced to the International scene. He travelled to Kiev , Ukraine to participate in the 4th International piano competition in memory of Vladimir Horowitz. There he was awarded a special prize for the student who showed outstanding promise. Since then he has won numerous prizes in competitions across the U.K, Scotland and U.S.A and Canada .

At an early age David was the overall winner of the European Piano Teachers Association competition. In 2005 David won the Manchester regional final of the BBC young musician of the year competition and later that year played at the Sage Centre, Gateshead . In 2006 David won the Junior Chopin Prize in memory of Ryszard Bakst. In 2007 he won 1st prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano competition.

David has performed across the U.K. , including the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester . Here he showed his versatility in 'Sparky's Magic Piano'. This was part of the Piano Festival 2003, which was organized by British Pianist Katherine Scott. His performance was later performed in Lancaster alongside players from the Chethams Symphony Orchestra and the Halle . Both performances were conducted by Stephen Threlfall.

David's Concerto performances include concerts with Chetham's Orchestra (2001) and Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra. (2003, 2004)

He has done many master classes and had his work praised by many International concert pianists including Ivo Pogorelich, Imogen Cooper, Prof. Dorenski, Noriko Ogawa, Dina Parakhina, Peter Donohoe and Ronan O'Hora.

David has been involved in charity performances including, raising money for a bursary at the Royal Northern College of Music and raising money for BBC Children in Need where his performance was broadcast on BBC radio.
